South Burnett Drives

Kingaroy and North country ride

This drive takes you down the Booie Range through native eucalyptus  forest and open farm land to the Burnett Hwy. Turn left and head North till you reach the Moffatdale turnoff and turn left. Moffatdale is our premier wine region and Lake Barambah is one of many features of this area. There are cellars doors open to the public that also offer food and other beverages. On leaving Moffatdale there are the towns of  Murgon and Cherbourg. Cherbourg has a historic museum and Murgon offers food and fuel and is worth a stop to have a look around the town.  Wondai has a very good Art Gallery and Wood Museum, timber was the first primary industry in the area and the uses of the particular sorts of wood harvested is interesting. Next is the hamlet of  Tingoora. The ‘Tinny Pub’ is worth a stop as it has been a icon in the South Burnett for many years.  Next is the village of Memerambi  and then on to Kingaroy.
